Advice for Home Tutors, teachers and students.

How do I get help with computer problems??

First of all, it depends on what the problem is as to who you should ask for help.  For some problems (internet connections)  it will be your ISP (Internet Service Provider) who can help you. For other problems, you can ask the school for help.

What sort of things can the school help me with?

Blackboard, Webmail passwords, and other problems that are related to the programs you use on your computer for your schoolwork, (eg Audacity, Microsoft office applications, image resizing, ) Remember however, that we do not have the answer for every problem and often the best way to get help is to firstly try and help yourself. As a general rule, if the program is something you are using for your schoolwork, then the school can help you.

How can I help myself?

  • Use the help option that is available in all programs.
  • Google it!!! This is my answer to just about everything. If I don’t know it, I google it (or, use the help program)
  • Use youTube. There are a huge range of very useful tutorials on youTube. What do you want to know?? Maybe something you want to know how to do in, for example excel, Photoshop or other……….youTube it!!

Remember that by doing your own troubleshooting,  you are learning heaps more than by just ringing up the teacher. You are learning how to learn and where to connect to to help you with your computer problems.

What if I can’t find the answer to  my problem?

Firstly, call your class teacher, or contact teacher. If they do not know the answer to your problem they will find someone who will help you.
