Course information
Certificate II in Information Technology is all about developing your general computer skills and knowledge, and providing you with a qualification that will be useful in any workplace, particularly an office environment.
What types of things are covered in Cert II in IT?
Cert II in IT is competency based. You work through modules and submit assessment tasks. You also submit either an observation checklist or Third Party Report which is to be filled in by your workplace supervisor, or another suitable person (e.g. me, or a teacher or office worker at your local school) You will cover skills in the following areas:
- Microsoft office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Publisher, Outlook and Access)
- Learning how to effectively use the internet.
- Communication (written and oral) as used in an office context.
- Occupational health and safety issues related to a workplace environment.
- Learning about what makes up a computer....eg. the hardware.
- Software and how to use it in an office environment.
- Digital imaging (related to work you may do in the workplace)
- Interacting with clients in the workplace.
Where and How Long?
The course is available online only, but the workbooks are available on disc, by request. In general, the course takes two years to complete. Each module should take about four weeks to complete.
