Field Program
Cairns School of Distance Education’s Field Program is an annual suite of inreach and outreach activities encompassing curriculum based face to face events for students, teachers and home tutors.
As an element of the curriculum, the field program is dynamic and responsive to the learning needs of students and home tutors. This and the fact that the geographic distribution of students will vary from year to year, means that the field program is subject to change on an annual basis.
What does the field program comprise?
A range of events across the the school year including
* Orientation Days
* Home Visits
* Home tutor inservice - a range of formats
* Mini Schools
* Mega School and Career based inreach events for Senior students
* Residential camps for Instrumental music, art, science and LOTE
* School Camp and Sports Day
Defining characteristics of the Field Program
* A full field program for a student incorporates at least one event each term.
* There is a balance of inreach and outreach.
* Learning experiences are designed to cater for the learning needs of all students.
* The field program is developmentally continuous across sub-schools.
* The field program is part of the overall school curriculum program and students are expected to participate.
