Home Tutors

What is a home tutor?

A home tutor is an essential member of the Distance Education learning team. They work in parallel with students, teachers and support staff to optimise outcomes for their students. The role of home tutor is usually undertaken by  the parent, or parents of the student. Some students have an employed governess as their home tutor. In consulation with the class and subject teachers, home tutors supervise and provide support to students as they progress through their study materials.

What support is available for Home Tutors?

The school offers many avenues of support for home tutors, depending on the area that you need help with.

* Class or subject teacher
* Parent Liaison Officer
* ICT support through either the Technical officer, an eLearn mentor, or your student’s class teacher

Home Tutor Professional Development

Home tutors are provided with  professional development sessions or workshops at regular times throughout the year. (Orientation Days, Annual Camp, Mini-Schools and during Home Visits)

Parent Liason Officer

The school has a full time Parent Liaison officer whose role is to provide support and guidance to parents and home tutors within the school community, and to liase with school personnel on your behalf. Camilla Darling is the school’s Parent Liaison Officer.
