Years 10 - 12
At Cairns School of Distance Education our Senior School caters for students in Years 10 to 12. Our aim is to maximise learning outcomes and broaden opportunities at this crucial juncture of student life.
In our Senior School, we aim to build on the important developmental work that has taken place through the years from Prep to Year 9. Programs are organised to allow students greater scope to specialise and pursue areas that align with their own particular strengths and interests.
Our Senior School also provides enhanced opportunities for older students to return to schooling and assist them with determining future educational pathways.
Students generally study a full course of 3 core subjects and 2-3 electives subjects, mixing and matching academic and vocational studies as appropriate to meet their needs. A range of other course options may be tailored to meet individual student needs including work experience and school based apprenticeships.
Our Senior School aims to meet your individual needs through the transition from compulsory schooling to a range of post compulsory options. Our learning programs are supported by extensive individual access to experienced teachers and field support, facilitating face-to-face contact through a variety of opportunities. Our Senior School continues to be at the forefront of incorporating technology into our teaching programs, with teleconference and online teaching being used extensively.
