Congratulations Theodore Delaney

StuditaliA Prize Winner

Theodore began studying Italian at Cairns School of Distance Education as a beginner student in Year 10 three years ago. Now in year 12 Theodore is one of 6 students in Queensland to be awarded this prestigious prize. Theodore attends Shalom College in Bundaberg and studies Italian through Cairns School of Distance Education.

The StuditaliA prize was established in 1994 to encourage and promote excellence in Italian language studies in schools across Queensland and reward the achievement of Year 12 students of Italian.

The Queensland Department of Education and Training is proud to partner with the Italian Government, represented by the Consulate of Italy in Brisbane, and the Italian community to support such an initiative where governments, universities, industry and the community can work together in supporting the Italian language.

The StuditaliA Prize for Year 12 students of Italian offers winners a four week immersion experience to study and live in Italy.

Each prize consists of:

  • One return economy airfare to Italy from Queensland, departing late November 2016 for four full weeks. Final departure date to be confirmed
  • Up to four weeks' attendance at an Italian secondary school
  • Accommodation and meals at the Convitto Nazionale 'Paolo Diacono' Cividale del Friuli's boarding school
  • Standard travel insurance for the duration of the prize (four weeks).

A message from Theodore:

"I am humbled to receive the StuditaliA Prize with four other Queensland students and say 'grazie mille' to my great Italian teachers, Mrs Pauline Settle, Mrs Mary Lantman and Mr Guiliano Alberti".
