National Tree Day

Every day is Tree Day

We are very proud and happy that our students who attended Cairns Mini School contributed to Australia's largest community tree-planting and nature care event: the Schools Tree Day!
The students had a big smile on their faces during the activity!  When students were asked why should we plant more trees, their replies included: “Trees help our atmosphere by producing oxygen and getting rid of carbon dioxide!”.
Our students increased the biodiversity of our campus by planting different species of bird attracting Grevilleas at the end of C Block near the DRC/Mailroom entrance. Hopefully we get more bird life coming through with the natives!

The  Planet Ark celebrated 21 years of National Tree Day and Schools Tree Day.  Proudly sponsored by Toyota Australia, Tree Day is an opportunity to do something positive for your local environment and community and to reconnect with nature. National Tree Day started in 1996 and since then more than 3.8 million people have planted 23 million trees and plants and it's still growing. The dates for 2017 were: Schools Tree Day Friday 28th July 2017 and National Tree Day Sunday 30th July 2017.
