Enrolling at Cairns SDE
Cairns SDE is an online school and it is an expectation that all students have a laptop/computer and have access to the internet. Lessons are delivered between 8.00 am and 3.00 pm AEST and lesson recording are available online if students need to access them outside of the timetabled session. It is strongly encouraged that students attend their online lessons according to their timetable.
There are 2 types of enrolment at Cairns School of Distance Education:
Home based students - A home based student enrols with Cairns SDE for all their studies. Parents need to review the enrolment categories prior to commencing the enrolment process.
There are certain prerequisites for enrolling:
- a computer with internet access must be available for the student
- a home tutor must be available to assist the student with completing the work
- a minimum of sixteen (16) weeks enrolment applies otherwise, an administrative fee would apply.
See the Home Based Enrolments page for further information.
School based students
Queensland State or Non-State Schools may apply to have their students enrol in up to two subjects if:
- the subject is not offered by their base school
- the subject is offered by the base school, but the student is unable to access it due to a timetable clash or other special circumstance.
See the School Based Enrolments page for further information.
