Positive Behaviours for Learning – PBL
Cairns SDE works within the Positive Behaviour for Learning framework (PBL) to
ensure there is a whole school approach to creating a positive learning environment
for students. The Student Code of Conduct and the Cairns SDE Matrix of Behaviour
Expectations outline the expected behaviours across all settings at Cairns SDE.
There are also details about the processes to teach, acknowledge and reward
student behaviour, as well as responding to unacceptable student behaviour and
reinforcing behaviour expectations.
Staff are encouraged to record Positive Behaviours in OneSchool for students who
demonstrate acceptable behaviours across the areas of the engagement:
participation - assemblies, lessons/tutorials, events; assessment - formative and
summative work returns. Student can receive certificates and postcards from their
teachers to acknowledge their positive behaviour.
